After a little tease of K-Pop and EDM deliciousness on his last album Recess, Diplo and K-Pop artist CL are at it again with their dynamic collaborations. Photos of Diplo and CL adorning the red carpet have been making their waves on Instagram, as K-pop singer rightfully asked Diplo to accompany her to the Style Icon Awards in Seoul on October 28th. After much success with CL’s feature on Recess, it looks like the duo is taking that stunning vibrancy off of the red carpet and back into the studio for CL’s debut album.
In the pre-show interview, CL confidently said she was very comfortable with Diplo, and was thus expecting an exhilarating performance – and right she was. Overtaking the stage with her incredibly sassy aura, powerhouse CL commandeered the performance by displaying a wide spectrum of vocal feats from rapping her original, “MTBD” to a soulful rendition of “Revolution.” Diplo drove the performance with his perfectly complimentary beats from the DJ booth, and looked absolutely dashing doing so in that suit of his.
It’s not often that we encounter platforms for such seamless integration of culture and style, but music is one, and we’re grateful to see Diplo and CL using their talents to close the chasms. We always say music is international, and here’s further proof that it absolutely is.
